Nitin Banwar, a self-educated artist of Indian origin, has led a life as colorful and diverse as his art. Born in India in 1952 into a global family deeply rooted in the cultural mosaic of one of the world's oldest civilizations, Nitin's journey has been anything but ordinary. With a father in the Indian Navy, his early years were spent absorbing the rich tapestry of Indian culture across various locales, setting the stage for a lifetime of diverse influences.
His family is global.Originating in India,they are in Australia,Sweden,India and the United States of America.
In 1975, Nitin embarked on a new chapter, moving to the United States after a brief stay in Sweden.He came to this country with a backpack and very little money. Initially,he could not start his post graduate training until he received a Green Card.This did not happen until 1977.During this interval,for sustenance,he sold drawings at local art fairs in Atlanta,Georgia.From a ‘Do It Yourself’picture framing shop he used it’s discarded materials,such as matboards,frames and plywood for his art.He continues to do so.
He received post graduate training in Orthopedic Surgery and practiced in the Finger Lakes region of New York state for more than three decades.He was an instrument rated private pilot in general aviation for almost 30 years.All through these years art was his counterbalance to the objective world of surgery and aviation.
.In more recent times a digital collaboration with Anthony Dungan fused originals with images of orthopedic implants that he used in the practice of Orthopedic & Reconstructive surgery of the knee and hips.This hybrid art form using subjective original images from his personal art with objective highly sophisticated biologically influenced industrial design prosthetic implants,was,and remains quite unique.A balance between the subjective and the objective. This typifies his approach to his life and art
With the onset of AI, his recent art is more 3-dimensional.Collages,assemblies and colorized wood sculptures predominate.Tribal,indigenous and contemporary art from many cultures continue to influence him.Lines,layers,colours and shapes continue to inspire,allowing expression of an inner vision that is constantly evolving

For three decades, Nitin's professional life as a reconstructive orthopedic surgeon in the Finger Lakes region was defined by precision and objectivity.
